Ancient Dragons
It is believed that the Prehistoric dragons caused the birth of Ancient dragons. When they awakened elemental flows within regular dagloren, the first wave of the ancient dragons began to rise. Ancient dragons viewed prehistoric dragons as their gods, and so it is said that they lived following instructions and guides from them. They took the role of protecting the land, forests, rivers, lakes and more. Each dragon is said to have it's own symbol on their bodies that can glow. Ancient dragons had offsprings of their own, and over time their kind and appearance began to change, depending on the area they were living at in this world it could affect how they evolved and adjusted. They have always taken a neutral role and chose to watch over earth as it progressed and evolved. Over time, they too saw the rise of mankind, which they viewed as a peculiar being that attempted to make contact with them.

Ancient dragons seemed to enjoy the gifts and company that was given, and so decided to share their wisdom with them. Mankind saw dragons as their gods, and at first they would choose to worship them and speak fondly of hese large creatures. But some of mankind wanted more than to just observe magical beings, they too wanted to control their powers. Dragons trusted those that worshiped them, and for that they would eventually pay a heavy price. As mankind learned on how to control magic and power, it is said that the first human-like gods had risen from slaying a dragon and draining all it's power. The loyalty of mankind began to shift towards their own gods who would demonize dragons and mythical beings alike. Eventually, ancient dragons became extinct, or so it was believed. Some believe that the last dragons were only present in Relaytra as their souls became corrupted, while others believe they accept their demise and went so Sylglia to the heavens.
However, over time when dragons were thought long to be gone, a pack of wild wolves stumbled upon a lone hatchling which would come to be known as Seiyru. In all the legends and tales, there is no knowledge as to where she exactly came from, but she is known to be the reason that new ancient dragons appeared. There are wolves who study these tales but are left with more questions than answers. Alamu, a psychic wolf who leads the Hakugon museum in the Toreiki Mountains, has studied ancient dragons for years. But even with all the information he has, he cannot explain where Seiyru came from nor how she was capable of summoning ancient dragons. After all, Seiyru is considered the same class as her fellow ancient dragons, yet her current whereabouts are unknown. Despite visiting and meeting several dragons, they would never give clear answers on his many questions,
|
which leaves details that are unknown about this species of dragons. Ancient dragons have always guarded properties of land, nature, and life. This makes the current Ancient dragons different, as they used their power to affect the land and chose to bond with wolves, even choosing one wolf that would receive a blessing. Unlike previous dragons of their kind, they are said to never leave their territory.
God and Goddesses
Ancient dragons are born as gods, with elements that will usually compliment them and their appearance. Mankind in the past would pray to the dragons for a good harvest, and so dragons who controlled the weather could cause a heavy rainfall. As gods, they are immortal but not invulnerable. Ancient dragons could live for eternity thanks to their immortality. Because of this they do not require food nor water for survival. However, mankind discovered that dragons could be killed. They learned quickly that if they made weapons from the slain dragon's bodies, it could kill dragons easier. Some dragons were simply tricked and taken by surprise. Similar to other living beings, it is said that the soul/spirit of a dragon will move on to the next realm to eventually find eternal peace. It is believed that if a dragon could not accept death, it's soul would become a rampaging spirit, a corrupted soul within Relaytra.

If a dragon could accept it's fate it would move on to Sylglia to become an angelic being. Dragons spoke the "Language of the Gods", a language that creatures could not understand, but they were capable of speaking in any other tongue as well.
Diet
While ancient dragons are immortal and therefore don't require food to sustain themselves, it was believed that they did enjoy to consume food and gladly accepted food offerings. Their diet could vary, depending on what they look like and what some of their ancestors could have once been like. Aquatic dragons would usually fancy aquatic foods such as fish while land based dragons would usually prefer meats. Not all dragons were known to consume meat however, as some would either be omnivorous or prefer plant based food.
Appearance and powers
Ancient dragons could some in all sorts of shapes and sizes, often carrying a resemblance of their dagloren (dinosaurs) ancestors of the past. While prehistoric dragons were known to resemble more primitive-like beasts, ancient dragons seemed to be a more evolved-looking being that would often feature traits that could had no purpose other than simply being decorative. They could be seen with and without wings, long and serpent like, two legged or four legged, aquatic and much more. One thing they all share is that they have a unique symbol that can appear on their body at will. It is believed dragons used this to mark specific humans in the past that would allow those to speak with them in dragon tongue. This aspect bears a similarity to the blessings Delvihen wolves can receive, however, elemental energy was never shared with any other creature, unlike now. Ancient dragons can have

all sorts of powers. Most are known to control natural powers such as: water, fire, electricity, etc. Some ancient dragons controlled different elements that are more unusual or extremely rare. Seiyru was most known for this, as she was said to control "Azure", an element that was never heard of before and is said to have devastating powers. Even on Delv Ihoo, some of the ancient dragons are said to have rarer elements than the others such as chaos, cosmic, etc... Ancient dragons are usually only known to have one element. Aside from their powers they would also have natural abilities, such as physical strength or speed, and great protection depending on their appearance. It is said that their powers heavenly depends on where the egg had incubated. Either nature itself provided the dragon with an element, or the parent figure shared it's power with the egg.
Reproduction
The reproduction of dragons is relatively unknown, nor a matter that the gods talk about to the Delvihen wolves. It is believed that the Ancient dragons were not a result of being born, but caused by prehistoric dragons awakening the elemental flows within other dagloren. In the current age, Ancient dragons reproduce by together with a male and female and give birth, but in some cases females were capable of parthenogenesis. These dragons were not known to breed frequently, and those that did generally resulted in the same type of dragon. Incubation is said to have taken up to hundreds of years, while female dragons were said to only lay eggs once in a lifetime. Their eggs were said to be plain white in color but would change once the life within found it's power. It's said that ancient dragons didn't always have offspring that would be born with a god-like status. Sometimes their

offspring took on a more prehistoric appearance, with very little elemental power compared to the dragon parents, and born without immortality. These cases of dragons were called Gaia dragons. They became their own class of mythical beings, that over time formed species with different bloodlines and thus created a new rare species of mythical but mortal dragons.
Blessing of a dragon
It is said that from the moment the ancient land became an Island thanks to Seiryu, Ancient dragons have always chosen a single wolf to give their blessings to. According to the dragons, a blessed wolf would allow the wolves to manifest their own powers over the land and thus allow for a huge boost in evolution for their kind. This not only allowed the land to change at a much higher speed, but the progress and evolution of a species was much faster than it would have been had species evolved naturally. The blessing was said to be an actual part of the dragon's soul given to their chosen wolf. Over time, this soul became split, changing into it's own source of life which was no longer capable or merging with it's original soul of the dragon. When the blessed wolf dies, a newborn is chosen to receive the blessing. While they known some details about the blessing, Delvihen wolves are still

left with a lot of unanswered questions. Why dragons went as far as to cause a split with their own soul, and why they pick a wolf that shares their gender or why it's always a newborn. Questions that their gods have not seemed to answer for one reason or another. What is known, is that they are said to choose those that are pure of heart. When a blessing is given, the blessed wolf can speak the "Language of the Gods" without realizing it, and it takes training for these individuals to become aware when they switch language. Some believe that those with a blessing can unlock mythical abilities faster, but the blessing does not seem to increase their overall power as a wolf. It is said that only the dragon is capable of awakening a new ability for the blessed wolf if they have proven themselves to be worthy of their trust. Some believe this would have prevented wolves who could have desired the power for evil purposes. As blessed wolves in history have not taken part in major conflicts. Because of this avoidance in conflict, while respected, most Delvihen wolves have little to no idea what a blessed wolf can do. Blessed wolves are said to hold a connection to their dragon which allows them to communicate with them through meditation. More often than not, blessed wolves tend to live life in solitary, which in result causes many societies to not even be aware of who currently is the blessed wolf of their own species. Sometimes there are easy giveaways of the blessed wolf, as some wolves will feature colors only seen on blessed individuals while others could share visual resemblance to their dragon gods with their markings and symbols. Just as these individuals are respected, it is believed their solitary choice of life comes from being hunted as well. It is noted that blessed wolves usually do not live life in full, as rather than making it to a 100, most would seem to have died around their 70-80. Because of this, wolves did began to wonder if there are negatives to being a blessed individual. The information surrounding this is relatively limited though, as some wolves with a blessing did grow old, even if this was the minority.
Dragons and wolves
The dragons gods on Delv Ihoo hold a special connections to the Delvihen wolves, but one of secrecy as well. It is believed that a long time ago, the dragons used to meet up with each other at Mount Nakraa. These meetings were said to allow wolves to see their gods and to see the different gods. Back then, it attracted a lot of attention but over time these meetings stopped. Dragons are gods, but they are not known to mingle between the conflicts that came to be between Delvihen Wolves. While Dragons were said to be hostile on their own territory in face of danger, some dragons may step up and help their species if something happened within their territory and they witnessed it. While most wolves worship them, others in the present day have questioned them, as some believe the gods should have prevented some of the wrong doing of specific species. Some believe that the dragons are too afraid to destroy the lands and the creatures around them if they were to get involved due to their power, while others believe there to be different motives to why they cannot help. Some believe that dragons are also fearful and cautious because mankind made them wary of what they share, and they do not want to share everything with the wolves for that reason. After all, weaknesses do exist between the dragons and therefore they would not wish to become something wolves can control to take down a different species would a conflict arise, or would a wolf desire to rule over more land, so the dragons have decided to stay out of conflict or helping their species for minor conflicts.
It's also not uncommon that not all dragons get along at all times. Both the fire and earth dragon have been said to not get along very well. While many dragons choose to keep the reasons to themselves, some have spoken that the acts of one does not make a whole species accountable for their actions. But then there is also another aspect about the Delvihen dragon gods that makes them different from past ancient dragons. The Delvihen dragons are known to go into a slumber for years at times without explanation. While some remain active and awake, many can be dormant for years. This is considered strange to some wolves who study dragons, as some ancient dragons of the past were also known to go dormant at times, but not so frequently. What wolves also consider to be strange is that despite the past stories of the dragons who would meet up and travel, the dragons as of now are not known to leave their territory. Some dragons have been known to remain out of a slumber, as they became quite fond of the Delvihen wolves, and they enjoy hearing about a wolf's travels and want to experience it themselves. Some species/societies of wolves hold close relationships towards their gods while others do not. The shadow dragon being the prime example as most wolves even till this day have little to no information other than a name. However, it is believed that the dragons depends more on the wolves than one would imagine. Without their species, the dragon is said to die. One species was hunted to extinction on Delv Ihoo, and so had it's very own God pass away.
