in size with the rise of the Shadow Clans. Blood wolves never truly had a good standing with other species due to their behavior and lifestyle. This caused severe conflicts between them and other species on Delv Ihoo, and if a Blood wolf attempted to travel or leave their territory, the Tanlin Clans would drive them back into their own territory. Because of their reputation and mostly forgotten status, when they were targeted it wasn't well known by other packs or societies. Blood wolves are notorious for their high aggression and feeding habits. These habits caused major issues if they left their territory of origin. Currently, it is unclear how many roam free outside of Nakraa Mountain and how many are imprisoned. What is clear is that this species lost full control over their own habitat. What is believed to be their downfall is not just the rise of the Shadow Clans, but their hostility within their own kind as well.
Behaviour
Blood wolves are known for their hostile environment even within their own pack. The hierarchy of a Blood wolf pack is very brutal. A pack is led by a lead female that is considered the Queen, followed up by commanders that are generally either relatives or females the Queen bonded with. Females below this are considered pack members which can be higher and lower ranks. But compared to females of other species, even the lowest ranking female is likely still highly aggressive. At the bottom of the pack is where the males are found, where they can develop a hierarchy between themselves as well, making some will be more dominant than others. Even so, males within a female pack are usually not high in numbers, this being mostly as many males choose to live in packs of males only, or solitary due to the living conditions with females. Females are so high in rank that even a newborn female pup is considered higher in ranking than the most dominant male. Female pups born to high ranking females will have higher status than regular adult females and males. A female of a lower ranking that attempts to assert

dominance towards a higher ranking female pup can receive a brutal correction for the attempt alone, as higher ranking females will not tolerate this. It is expected that adult females submit towards high ranking pups. The only thing that can affect such a rank for a young pup is if the high ranking parent she comes from dies and she has no relatives to fall back on. For males life is not easy. Upon birth and the young stages, males are loved by their parent, and their first weeks are generally the most peaceful, but while seen as horrific and terrible by other Delvihen species, a female Blood wolf has to make some rather questionable choices in order to assure that her male offspring gets to grow old enough, and get to grow strong. Due to the hierarchy that this species lives in, a female that fails to raise her son properly will likely lose their sons. When male pups are born, they aren't aware of the hierarchy, so to softly prepare her male offspring for the future, she will correct her offspring every single time he shows dominance towards a female sibling, meaning she will pin her pup, nip at him, and do anything to ensure he realizes that asserting dominance over his female sibling will have negative consequences. Not only does the mother prepare her male offspring to understand and accept the hierarchy of Blood wolves, but she equally is boosting the confidence of her female offspring that will feel more confident as they are not corrected for playing roughly with their male sibling. Which in return causes them to grow confident and ready for a life where they have to be able to stand their ground.
While initially this may seem unfair and vicious towards male offspring, the results of what can happen if this is not taught to these pups, can be devastating. Inexperienced mothers or mothers with no female offspring tend to struggle to discipline or correct their offspring in the manner of the hierarchy. This results in a more dominant male, which could be a key factor if he attempts to bond with a female as he ages, as it could impress the female if the male is more dominant and confident, but this does the opposite in a pack when the male is young.
If a male pup decided to show dominance, not just over a high ranking female, but over any female, it could trigger a vicious assault of adult females within the pack, especially the parent figures. These attacks can have deadly results. A mother will desperately try to redirect the attack to protect her son, but this does not always work. A male pup showing disrespect towards a female adult, even if the lowest rank, can trigger the same type of assault. Only male pups belonging to the highest ranking females might get away with it, but even they are corrected by their own parent, as males hold no status over females. Even a bonded male to a Queen is not considered a king, and even this male will correct his own sons in the same way. High ranking males, due to their parent figure, have an advantage of escaping hostility of the females but only if they stay out of their way and avoid confrontation. For any male, especially those born to lower ranking females, bonding with their female sibling is extremely important, as the female sibling can be the only reason the male might escape being picked on and provide a thin line of protection. A female sibling, if bonded to her male sibling, will generally either prevent an attack or redirect one in case a higher ranking female attempts to pick on him. In some cases if a female has male offspring only, some are known to leave the pack if they fear for the safety of their young. This can be risky, as a lone female will lose her position to and in her pack, and lone males are hostile to lone females. Even packs of females are hostile if she’s deemed an outsider. If a male grows up within a pack, they tend to stay if born to high ranking females, and leave if born to low ranking females. For a male pup within a pack, to lose his mother can be the difference between life and death if the mother had no bonded siblings or other females. In cases where their mother dies, male pups are often not protected or even fed, meaning the pup has to survive on his own and live off of scraps, sometimes not even being allowed to feed on prey they hunt. They are almost always ignored, and most orphaned males do not survive.
Some male pups will wander away, and in very rare cases a group of males might adopt the starving pup. Female pups in comparison, even if their parent figure died, are generally cared for, but if the female pup's parent had no strong connections or bonds, the female will grow up to be at the bottom of the female ranks. To Blood wolves, and especially females, the law of the strongest is a rule they live by. In a pack Blood wolves might live together but they are often on their own, enjoying a moment of peace on their own.
While they are mostly seen as very hostile they do bond with one another, but the bonds are generally the closest between high ranking females and relatives. Low ranking females tend to form a bond with any other female as the support of another female in the pack is desired over being alone. When bonding, they clean and groom each other, sleep together and claw at rocks to sharpen their claws. These are considered social activities to form and strengthen bonds. A high ranking female that leaves her offspring in the care of a female below her is considered an honor and way of bonding as well. When females reach the age of an elder they tend to be respected even if the rank was not super high, a female that managed to age old is considered successful and wise, therefore blood wolves will care for their elders. While hostile, when a pack member is in trouble, the pack itself is known to not give up and protect their fellow pack member to the death if required, meaning even for the lowest ranking adult female they are known to take life risking choices. When it comes to pups born with disabilities life can be harsh, as a way to bond, it is expected a wolf can contribute, only disabled offspring belonging to high ranking females are lucky, as their parents or siblings will look after them and protect them. In general, Blood wolves do not get along with strangers, as other Delvihen Species generally feel uncomfortable around them. But they also don't get along with others of their own kind, such as rival packs. A conflict within the pack is generally always solved with violence.
Blood wolves do have some keys when it comes to body language. While a raised tail is seen as dominant, their tails are generally heavier than that of most wolves, because of this they generally do not raise their tail fully. It's more common to see their tail raised at an arch. When angry they will make themselves look as big as possible, females will raise the fur even of their manes. Clawing over the floor is a sign of aggression as well. They vocalize in many unique ways, as they are capable of both growls, roars, groans, hissing and more. Hissing is generally displayed if they feel threatened or uncomfortable, it is also used as an indicator to pups if they are angry. Growls and snarls are a sign of complete aggression. They also vocalize in strange calls, which is generally a social behavior to intimidate potential targets or assert position. While howling is said to be capable they rarely use this, the howl is said to be higher in pitch.
If Blood wolves attempted to leave their territories and habitat, they were always driven back to their own territory, usually by light wolves of the Tanlin Clans. While seen as an hostile approach, they have their reasons. Due to their feeding habits, Blood wolves would feast on regular animals of other lands, and usually their blood did not satisfy their feeding. This resulted in many dead corpses or entire herds of animals being killed to satisfy their hunger. Blood wolves are so used to drinking the blood of the animals they hunt within their own territory that most don’t raise an eye or care of the devastating results that animals outside of their habitat could not survive such as feasting. Some males who truly wanted to find a partner but too afraid to deal with a female of their own kind, were known to seek a partner outside of their territories, and while not as aggressive as female Blood wolves, males are naturally highly aggressive due to the environment they grew up in, meaning an encounter with one was not necessarily pretty. For generations the Tanlin Clans took it upon themselves to drive them back within their own territory. It's generally more common for males to have attempted to leave, as females feel comfortable in the mountains they grew up in, as their pads allow them to climb rocky surfaces with ease as they have good traction. Their land does not have direct sunlight, making their eyes highly adaptable to dim light. If Blood wolves do leave they tend to only travel or hunt at night due to their sensitivity to light.

- Female blood wolf Queens will never back down from a fight, they will accept any challenge to guard their rank as Lead Queen. Backing of from a fight is seen as a weakness in which her followers might turn against her. This also means that she will accept fights against her odds.
DietBlood wolves have a unique diet as unlike other species they actually do not require flesh to sustain themselves. Blood wolves will bite their opponent and make incisions with their teeth. Their teeth will release a stunning effect that will force the animal to become paralyzed temporarily and drop down. Once their prey is down, Blood wolves will make openings on the animal to suck blood. They will then use their long tongues to reach into wounds and fleshy openings they made in order to drink their blood. The blood of animals from the Mountain of Nakraa are known to have extremely fatty blood, so fatty that it’s usually not appealing to other species of Delvihen wolves. To Blood wolves, it is tasty and rich in what they require to sustain themselves. Upon having had their fill, they will abandon the body. Most large animals they hunt in these mountains are known to recover blood extremely fast and heal naturally well, meaning most animals do survive the ordeal. Because of this it's not uncommon to see an animal with many scars. If hunted and with no way of escape, some prey will even submit to avoid further injuries. While Blood wolves do not need meat to survive, some are said to cannibalize on other wolves or even rivals as a way to intimidate others. If hungry they too tend to consume meat, but this is only to attempt to feel satisfied.

- Young pups require this fatty blood within the milk when born to grow healthy and strong, a blood wolf pup will usually die if not provided the right diet. Adult blood wolves can live of standard blood as well but they require far more of it than a regular blood feast.
ReproductionReproduction and courtship for Blood wolves is not a simple affair. Due to females being highly aggressive it is not unusual for a male to either end up dead, or choose to not breed at all. Males who wish to obtain a high rank, a bond with a Queen of the pack would be the highest desire. For males, it is vital to form a bond with a female, and to maintain it. Females can be tricky as a cowardly or a weak male would not be seen as a good partner, instead they would view such a male as an unsuitable mate that could provide for weak offspring. Therefore a male will first have to join a pack and endure the harassment and beating that could follow. Before females tolerate a male to join, they will generally be extremely harsh, this can go from biting to much worse. If a male shows cowering and fear during this, females might only accept the male as a pack member, and for someone to take their stress or irritation out on. If a male endures the initial hazing without showing to much fear or simply taking it all without showing to much emotion,
|
the Queen of the pack might take interest. When this happens it will be of importance that the male bonds with this female and maintains the bond. If bonded a male will have to initially wait until the female is ready to mate, during this process a male has to be submissive as a female can easily be triggered and turn against the male. The process itself is quick in which afterwards the male has to take a distance or even run for a potential lash out the female can give. This period is vital for the male to bond, if the male does not bond or give the female a reason to bond, the female will not even tolerate the male to look after his own offspring, and after breeding the female will likely not deem the male her mate anymore. In these cases, he will end up at the bottom of the hierarchy again, and could be replaced by another male. If the male is allowed to watch over his offspring then he has succeeded as the female will deem him a worthy father and a mate worth having. This means the male will no longer be harassed by the other females in the pack as the Queen will not tolerate that, and while he might not be in charge and might not hold authority over other females, he is allowed and expected to ensure his offspring are guarded at all times. In some cases, he can even remind other females of their rank and to back down to higher ranking female pups. Contrastingly, other females in the pack usually will have pups without bonding with other males, such as mating with strangers or outsiders of their pack. This is why females are often seen with pups without a mate, something that is only most common to a lead Queen of the pack. After mating, females will have a gestation period of 70 to 85 days before giving birth. The other females in the pack are expected to provide meals and food for the pregnant females and her offspring. If bonded, her mate is expected to provide her with food. Usually a female with pups in the pack that has no mate will hunt for food herself and another female will likely watch her offspring while she hunts. Pups are born blind and deaf, and gain sight and hearing after a week. Their ears are standing straight from the first day. As females grow, the pointy ends of the ears become longer, and while their manes are short at birth, it will grow longer as they age.
- A female with pups is required to drink the blood of native wildlife within the mountains of Nakraa. The property of the blood is extremely fatty and contains all that these pups need. Because of the demands of Blood pups, females of a different species would not be capable of providing the required milk. While most pups are usually taught to drink blood from animal bodies at the age of 2 months, females are allowed to nurse longer from their mothers nutritious milk in comparison to males. If a hybrid is born out of this species, it can be devastating if the mother is not a Blood wolf, as there have been reports of unborn blood wolves clawing the insides of their mother if their diet requirements are not met. Sadly in most cases this results in the death of both parent and child.
- Blood species number wise have never been present in large amounts. This partly due to their more complex and aggressive nature, but also due to the difficulty that males face to bond with a female. Not only that but if a female mates with a male, they are capable of rejection the offspring before it is even born. This meaning they can reabsorb and basically terminate their own pregnancy.
Physical Appearance
Their main pelt is a dark red color, with some lighter markings present on the stomach, neck, tail and legs. They feature some brighter red colors as well, with the female having more additional markings than the male. They have long pointy ears, their fur is medium in length with a rather scruffy look. They have long tails with a paintbrush-like tail tip. The Blood species is one of the few that has unique traits that differ a lot from the other species, this being their feet. Their paws are built heavy, being big and wider than that of regular canines. Their toes are plated with actual scales with large nails. Their paw pads are not similar to that of most canines. They also have dewclaws on the back legs as they do on their front legs. Compared to other species, they also use their front legs similar to cats, meaning they actively use their paws to attack and sharpen them on rocks. They have a rather deadly mouth, with sharp teeth which they use to bleed their enemies out. Unlike other species, the sockets for their teeth run deeper within the skull. When they close their mouth their teeth are not hanging or sticking out. Upon closing the jaw, their teeth partly retract into the socket, as when they growl or use their teeth, they will extract out. Their tongue differs too from that of most canines, with a long and pointy-shaped tongue. An extremely rare and unique trait is where the wolf is born with additional nostrils. Which is said to be a trait of their Goddess. Those with additional nostrils are said to be capable of releasing a glow out of them as well. Additional nostrils are only seen on females.
Blood wolves are known to take great pride in their appearance, as females especially have marking similarities to their dragon Goddess. To females especially, the lack of markings such as defects or covered markings can be seen as a disgrace or a reason to demote a female of her rank. Even color mutations can result in wolves being rejected, or males never being able to find a female blood wolf as a mate. It’s not uncommon for low-ranking females, if picked on by higher ranking females, to be attacked or bitten at the neck or shoulder so badly it may cause such bad scarring that the manes might no longer grow back, and when this happens they may be treated poorly. The 3 marks on each shoulder are especially special and appraised for females. While known as Blood wolves, they themselves refer to many types of move as "Dragon", as if they see themselves closer to dragons than any other species does.

Blood wolves are mostly seen with an extremely small pupil, however depending on the circumstances this can vary. While most species, depending on what state they are in, can have small pupils as well, such as during intense fear or the complete opposite, for blood wolves their pupils are almost always small at nearly all times, which is why it is different for this species to begin with.
➡Tiny pupil: This is most common in adults of this species. Due to their lifestyle in which they are most often on edge, their pupils become small. Because of how they live this is far more than any other species on the Island. This pupil is also present when they are angry or feel threatened. Blood wolves that lead packs will generally always be on edge, as softer eyes could be seen as a weakness.
➡Regular pupil: This is seen when Blood wolves are relaxed and at ease. While this species is prone to a lifestyle that is more tense, they do bond in the pack and when forming bonds and showing genuine moments of peace and comfort to one another, their eyes will show bigger pupils. These eyes are only shown towards individuals that bond and are likely to be spotted more so on pups than adults. It's also likely to see males who live in a pack of other males to be more relaxed and at ease, in comparison to when they live in a female dominated pack.
➡Slit pupil: This pupil is only visible when their ability "Dragon sight" is activated.

- Males lack manes that females have on their neck and front legs. Their tails are shorter and their teeth are not as long as a female’s. They also have less markings than females.
- Females feature manes on the back of their neck and their front legs. They have many markings of which they are proud of. Their tail is long and compared to males their ears are more pointy as well. They also tend to be larger and heavier than males.
Powers and Abilities
Common moves
- Blood spit: Blood wolves are mostly not known for having the highest elemental energy, as their attacks rely a lot on physical damage and the effects it can inflict. However their elemental attacks should not be taken lightly. Blood spit is an attack in which they are capable of releasing blood within their stomach to combine this with stomach acids, upon shooting it out it will cause severe damage such as a burning sensation that can cause third degree burns.
- Dragon Slam: This move is extremely common as blood wolves will use their large tail filled with muscle to slam down opponents, they refer to it as a dragon's tail due to the shape and length of their tail. If combined with elemental energy it will do a huge amount of physical damage.
- Dragon bite: A Blood wolf uses its mouth very often both for the purpose of the "Devour ability" and the damage they can inflict and their bites are often compared to that of Shadow wolves who also have a dangerous bite. While their bite pressure is not as high as that of Shadow wolves, their teeth are made to tear and rend, causing deep wounds made to bleed their targets out. If they manage to latch on, it will be difficult to escape their grip.
- Dragon claw: Similar to cats they do use their front legs as weapons, with heavier paws and plated with protective scales, they will slam and claw at opponents. Combined with elemental energy it can be very damaging.
- Dragon screech: Blood wolves can release screech that are so loud that it can stun opponents in combat due to the unbearable pain on the ears, this is ineffective against fellow blood wolves.
- Venomous strike: If Blood wolves manage to bite their target they can release venom in small amounts from their fangs. This is the same venom they use to temporarily poison prey in order to drink blood. This effect does work on other Delvihen wolves as well, so for their opponent it is vital to kick of a biting blood wolf as fast as possible. Blood wolves cannot use this non stop, as usually after hunting it can take up to a full day to regain this venom.
Abilities
- Dragon sight: Blood wolves will learn at an early age to master this ability, as it allows them to see straight through matter. They can detect heat sources and therefore see the shape of potential prey from far away. Because of this ability it's hard to escape them.
- Devour: While a passive ability, it is considered to be a very dangerous one to those that face a Blood wolf. When Blood wolves successfully bite their opponent upon release this ability will be triggered. For up to a minute if the attacker can stay near its target, elemental energy will be drained from their target and absorbed by the Blood wolf who bit. This means that for a short while the target will have its energy drained while the Blood wolf will have their elemental energy increased. Not only that, but physical wounds will get a boosted heal as well. This ability is ineffective against fellow blood wolves.
- Blood tracker: This ability allows blood wolves to pick up on the scent of blood and track down wounded prey or opponents. They are said to be the best trackers, as once they pick up on a blood scent, not even rain can mask it.
- Dragon scales: Once triggered, this ability will boost their elemental defenses. While not visible when activated, a wolf that comes in close range and tackles or hits a blood wolf with a physical attack, can see a shimmer of scales as if a barrier of scales appears where they were hit.
- Cosmic immunity: Blood wolves are elementally resistant to cosmic wolves, and they are completely immune against cosmic attacks. While cosmic attacks with bright lights might be annoying to them it is not damaging.
- Blood flush: While not immune to poison, they are able to flush out their bloodstream in case of venom. If poisoned, they can actually flush out the problem in their system to get rid of it.
- Glowing nostrils(♀): Secondary nostrils are only seen on females, believed to be a rare trait linked to a blessed one. However it turns out that other females that are not blessed individuals can on rare occasions be born with it. The glow is said to be passive meaning in this case it's an ability they possess that only serves as an intimidation tactic and nothing more.
- Blood restoration(♀): When ingesting blood, female blood wolves don't only satisfy their feeding needs, but they can also restore wounds, injuries and elemental energy at a much quicker rate. During combat it's not unusual to see a female attempt to bite and feed at the same time.
Mythical abilities
- Blood pressure: A blood wolf that manages to master this ability is considered extremely deadly, as they are said to be capable of controlling the blood of their opponent from the inside. When this happens they will raise the blood pressure to dangerous degrees which will cause heart murmurs and clot formation in the blood. This can result in wolves becoming blind, or in worse case blood will run out of the victims eyes and nose followed up by seizures and falling into a coma in which death will swiftly follow. The only way another wolf can defend itself from this attack is by using elemental energy as a barrier to protect their body or attack and attempt to stop the wolf in the attempt, however, to some wolves such as cosmic wolves, they are not even capable of elementally fighting it off.
HabitatThis species originated within the Mountain of Nakraa, and is known to be very hostile. Not only are Blood wolves aggressive, even the wildlife itself is considered hostile and dangerous. Most herbivores within this territory are hostile and will attack on sight if given the right opportunity. The sun generally does not reach these lands, meaning that for most part these wolves are rarely confronted by the sun. Blood wolves tend to get tired and exhausted if they are forced to remain in the sun. The environment is rocky for which the paws of Blood wolves are well adapted to, such is the long tail for balancing.
|
Dragon Goddess Nakraima
Little information is known about their Dragon Goddess. Due to the hostility of their habitat, most wolves are unable to travel through these lands to observe the Blood wolves. Because of the negative standing, not many outsiders have ever been able to observe them or their Dragon Goddess. Nakraima is said to be very hostile, and even said to live with the largest pack of Blood wolves. Despite her hostility, she does seem to have bonded to Blood wolves. It is theorized that the Blood dragon’s past life might have been pack bonded, and that she may have lived in similar conditions.
