Water SpeciesThe water species is amongst the more rarer species found on the island. They usually stick to areas with a water source and therefore aren't often seen by others. They tend to be hardy and bold, not stepping away from a challenge and rarely showing fear. While they are generally neutral, they will always keep a distance from strangers, but they won't judge them either. Other than controlling the element of water, they have at least 3 different variations: Lake, Coral and Shallow. They are also known for being great healers. Their variant depends on their birthplace. The Lake variant requires regular lakes or big ponds. The coral variant requires coral reefs and the Shallow variant requires shallow waters.

Behaviour
Despite the variations, they generally display the same behaviour with minor differences. Coral wolves rarely leave the reefs attached to the island, compared to lake wolves who will spend time on land as well. Shallow wolves on the other hand are the only ones that can breathe under water due to their external gills, except for one of their variations. The other variants can stay underwater for at least 4-7 hours, only pups cannot stay underwater for long. Coral wolves are the only ones however to shed their coral once a year, meaning it’s possible to spot this variant lacking all it’s coral during their shedding season. While neutral, they will not back off easily and have a lot of attitude. They will slam their tails down as a threat display, equally it can be done to assert dominance during an argument among their own kind. They are considered a bit naive at times, since they tend to believe superstitions and so they'll act paranoid around it. They cannot survive without water almost at all times, even 24 hours without it can be fatal. They are only known to fear lightning or getting lost in the deep sea.

They are extremely social and will always work in packs. Swimming in groups, they will confuse schools of fish or predatory animals, trapping them as they hunt. Pack leaders are usually voted on and decided in agreement with the pack. Maintaining their pelt and grooming is a daily task they all upkeep. They are more than capable of living with different variants, so it’s not unusual to spot a pack with a few variations in them.
When swimming they take a tadpole motion in which their tail moves sideways from left to right. This motion is similar to that of aquatic lizards, or even sharks. Interestingly when it comes to the coral variant, those with a "whale shaped tail" will take on a different motion similar to that of whales. It can also occur that a pup is raised by an individual with such a tail, which can result in the pup taking on a different motion as well. Underwater they have their own way of communicating with each other. Water wolves have a type of vocalization that cannot be heard on land, the pitch is very unique and rather high. Only underwater can a clear sound be heard. It is this call they use to communicate underwater during hunts or to warn fellow pack members from danger. The calls are more primitive meaning communication is basic. They will have sounds that warn the pack of danger, or if food is present. Each individual pack or group has it's own meanings for the sounds they make, this means that a stranger of the same species cannot understand a group of water wolves underwater. Other species of wolves if underwater tend to find the noises relaxing.
Due to the many downsides when they are outside of the water, they will always prefer to stay near a water source. On land their speed is heavily decreased which also makes their hunting chances extremely low on land. They will get tired much faster, as extreme forms of activity will even drain their elemental energy.

DietWater wolves can release sonar pulses to track down fish. Another method would be corralling, where they work in group to trap fish amongst them or against the shore. Depending on where they live, they will consume the local fish, especially the sea offers a lot of variety with oysters, clams and more. They like to feed on sea weeds, lake weeds and grapeweeds. While they will usually not hunt on land, they are opportunistic and will eat or hunt a weakened mammal.
ReproductionAfter a bonding process, water wolves usually mate for life. They are sexually mature around the age of 18. Males will usually perform a special dance within the water to impress a female and potentially become her mate. Coral variants are known to present pearls. Their reproduction is a whole lot different as they do not give live birth. Lake females will lay clusters of eggs usually on the surface attached to plants in the deeper ends of the river which they will fiercely guard, no stranger should go near as the mother will viciously attack and potentially kill. Shallow wolves are somewhat similar to lake wolves, only they will choose still shallow water where they guard their cluster both within the shallow water and outside of it. Coral variants however lay their clusters within the coral reefs attached to air anemones. These grow on patches of sea plants that generated small bubbles of oxygen which the anemone in return will absorb to provide the cluster with air. The coral variant has a mucus they can release from their body which protects them and their clusters from stings of the anemone. The pups develop within them as the cluster will expand. The parents will feed

and protect the cluster during this process. The cluster will often have unfertilized eggs to confuse predators and give a bigger chance of survival to their own young. Once big enough, they will leave the cluster and be guided by their parent to a safe location. They are never born with floppy ears and they can walk, communicate and move around during their first week outside the cluster. Aside from this, the water species becomes a lot older than most other species.
- Females guard their cluster even if it means death.
- The variant of the wolf is decided by it's birthplace.
Physical Appearance
As a water wolf, they have short and smooth fur similar to leopard seals. They have slightly larger ears and very clear webbing between the paws. Their color varies depending on variation, and aside from specific traits being different, they only differ in markings in each variant. A lake variant comes with a blue/green like color palette. They also feature fins located on the side of their face which are standard a dull green. They also have variations amongst their own type. The coral variant differs, as rather than fins they have coral structures on the side of their face. A coral variant comes with a blue color palette. They also have variations amongst their own variation. They can shed coral and their structures will regrow the exact same way, every individual has unique coral stacks and shapes. They also feature coral scales on their body. If symbolized, these scales can appear on different locations on their body in patches. The shallow variant, rather than fins, have external gills on the side of their heads. A shallow variant comes with a dull grey/blue color palette. They also have variations amongst their own variation. They are the only variant that due to these gills can swim underwater and breathe, meaning some even choose to live in water their entire lives. They can breathe in both fresh and salt water. Only the “dragon” variation lacks this useful gills.
- Males have less vibrant colors available to their palette. They will always have smaller fins, coral structures or external gills in comparison to females. When it comes to male coral water wolves, they only feature corals on their front half of the body. Their tails are also slightly shorter. Aside from some changes marking wise, they also lack longer fur on their rumps. While males only come in 2 variations, females come in 3.
- Females have far more vibrant colors available to their palette. They will always have larger fins, coral structures or external gills in comparison to males. Their tails are also slightly longer. Aside from some changes marking wise, they also feature longer strands of fur at the rump. Females have access to all 3 variations within their own variation as well.
Powers and Abilities
Common moves
- Water shot: Water wolves are capable of generating water from within their mouths, in water they can also absorb this. Depending on how much they store they can either: spit water, or send shots of water. Shots will usually come at higher pressure and therefore cause more damage in comparison to spitting water. Spitting water can be used pasively as well to cool down if it's warm.
- Chocking wrap: For this move they will use their tail, as they are extremely flexible and strong. They will wrap it around a wolf to attempt to choke them. At times they are also seen dragging wolves with their tail as they use it to grab things as well.
- Tail slam: While they might be slowed down by their tail, the fact that it remains flexible and powerful at the same time is impressive. A tail slam should not be taken lightly, as it can cause serious injury if hit directly.
- Swift tackle: Within the water their speed will increase drastically. Preferring to work in groups they will swim at full speed and hit their target over and over again. These continuous hits can eventually put a wolf unconscious.
- Whirlpool: This move is easier to do in group than alone, as it requires both speed and elemental energy for it to work. Swimming continuously in circles they will be able to generate a whirlpool, which will easily drown opponents. For this move they have to be in water.
Abilities
- Regeneration: This allows for each variant to regenerate pieces of their fins/gills or coral to heal and restore it to its former glory.
- Sonar pulse: This ability is mostly used for hunting, especially in the darker sections of lakes or coral reefs this will allow them to detect potential prey or obstacles.
- Mystic heal: This ability allows for a swift recovery from injuries, or elemental power. They do require water, as outside of the water this ability is useless.
- Manipulation(Lake variant): While water wolves can spit water and use their elemental energy to generate it, they cannot control the actions of actual water except for the "lake variant" that is. Wolves of this variations are capable of controlling water sources and therefore within the water they can be extremely lethal.
- Coral defense(Coral variant): This increases their defenses by half as their coral has elemental properties. Therefore they will take less damage from physical attacks. Their coral is said to become so strong that even the most fragile in appearance will not break.
- Hydroportation(Shallow variant): By using the currents, they can teleport short distances within the water.
- Dragon tail(Shallow variant): The markings on their tail (shallow variant + dragon tail) are capable of gaining a bright coloration underwater, some wolves use this to lure unsuspected fish towards themselves. This ability is used for hunting or intimidation.
Mythical abilities
- Vine manipulation(Lake variant): This ability is seen similar to "water manipulation" in forester wolves. It is said if mastered a lake variant can move water plants through the use of the water the plant itself absorbed.
- Electric absorption(Coral variant): This ability is extremely rare. The coral on this variant will attract electricity and fully absorb it. This means that a water wolf would lose one of it's weaknesses. Out of all mythical abilities some wolves believe this one is simply a myth.
- High pressure(Shallow variant): This is said to be an ability that is completely lethal if directly hit. The wolf in questions will be capable of sending water at such a high pressure that it will pierce through even rocks. The water beam itself is thin but deadly.
HabitatThe origin of the species lies in the Otoma Springs. The spring however is connected to both a freshwater lake and the ocean with various shallow areas of water. This eventually caused 3 variants to exist within this species. Coral wolves are the only variant to prefer sticking to the coast and coral reefs that are attached to the island, while the other two variants prefer lakes. The shallow variant might grow up in shallow waters, but as they age, they too move to deeper lakes. They can be found around Delv Ihoo as long as lakes or water is nearby. They are never spotted in the Ice lands, as this area is to cold for them to survive. Their birthplace affects their variant, lakes cause lake variants, Coral reefs cause Coral variants, and Shallow waters cause the Shallow variant.

Dragon Goddess Lamuria
Lamuria is their Goddess, and unlike other dragons, a lot more is known about her. She resides within a lake known as the Otoma springs. She has a strong bonding with the pack that resides there and has even joined them during hunts. She loves to speak in riddles even if she isn’t good at them. She does have a temper and will not hold back to defend the wolves she treasures even if it means killing others. She doesn’t trust many outsiders or wolves that are not water wolves, but will occasionally give it a chance.
