Info
A long time ago, Delv Ihoo was part of the mainland and the ancestors of Delvihen wolves walked the earth amongst many other creatures. Spells and magic was generally only practiced by one species of which the wolves refer to as “two-legs”. This magic and knowledge was gained through Ancient Dragons. When the land split and formed an island, the wolves adapted to the new lands because of the Dragon Gods. Only then when the species began to develop, wolves began to practice some forms of magic, known as charm spells.
Limited knowledge of magic
Despite the connection the Delvihen wolves have towards the dragons, they did not actively seek to learn or understand magic. As their kind and species evolved, they naturally gained powers such as fire, water and more, and thus had no reason to seek this type of magic out. It’s believed the dragons avoided to teach further magic to ensure that wolves would not abuse this, as the wolves became quite powerful with their elemental control. But for the praise and worship the wolves gave to the dragons, one dragon gave them the knowledge to create “charm spells”, as it was considered a harmless spell.
Charm spellsCharm spells allow wolves to summon items which will appear on their body in various shapes. It also allows wolves to wear items they normally could not attach to themselves unless they had psychic powers. Spell charms do require a ritual in order to make the spell work and some knowledge of the “Language of the Gods” or otherwise known as “Dragon tongue” is required. Charms spells are more frequently practiced in the “Dyelaq Clans”, as they hold high respect for the Dragon Gods. The items can be broken and when this happens the spell itself will be destroyed, and the item will vanish and no longer exist. Because of this, most wolves will disable the spell in order to save the charm if it’s at risk. Charms can also be passed on if the original owner has passed away, but only if the wolf in question is related to them and knows the words to summon the charm. While charms mostly play a role in appearance, some have used them in battle as well.

The ritual + appearance
For the ritual, wolves have to gather material in order to make the charm. While some wolves will gather gemstones or valuable resources for higher class items, some enjoy more simple charms and so will only use feathers, or even flowers. The items are to be placed on a fire in the light of natural moonlight. Then the wolves have to sacrifice some of their own blood into the fire and speak the words "Tsuluna Sukura " which stands for “Moon Crafter”. After they call for this dragon, they have to speak the words they desire to use to summon the charm and then finally present an “Azure stone” as payment. The dragon will then craft an item that the wolf requests, which can be bracelets, rings, etc... The items will expand and grow along with the wolf as they age.
- Not all wolves use this method to gain charms. While rare, some species do have the opportunity compared to others. Metal wolves can bend metal, Psychic wolves can levitate items and easily attach them to themselves, Forester wolves could use roots and vines as a lending paw to put items in their fur. Of course the downside is that if lost, or destroyed, it will be gone.
The moon crafter
Delv Ihoo and its species is mostly known for the Ancient Dragons that are responsible for the existence of the species. However it’s not commonly known that there are other dragons still present on this island as well. These are usually smaller dragons who still are categorized as “Ancient” ones but are far less powerful. These can be guardians of rivers, and more. The Moon Crafter is known as the dragon that shared it’s knowledge on charm spells with wolves, and in return for “Azure Stones”, will gladly craft items. This dragon has no judgement over wolves, and as long as the ritual is performed, she will make items no matter if the wolf is good or bad. The Moon Crafter herself is known as a serpent-like dragon that carries many charms, and generally doesn’t appear for wolves but only listens to their calls to create charms. Her wisdom was passed on from pack to pack and eventually even wolves with no knowledge of this dragon learned how to perform this ritual.
Advantages & disadvantages
Wolves experimented with the charms and the creation of it, and there have been wolves that submitted body parts of animals as a part of the charms creation. Animals with a resistance to deflect lighting became part of charms to which water wolves could redirect the lightning if their bracelet makes contact. Wolves have used it defensively as well. A downside is that wolves can also get stuck if something gets caught on it, or have their items ripped off. While the item may disappear, it can still leave physical damage, like a ripped earring will tear the ear.
Status and social views
It is believed that the very first wolf that spoke with the “Moon Crafter” was distressed and wanted to stand out among their symbolized siblings. Upon requesting aid and presenting valuable gemstones, the dragon shared her wisdom and so the charm spells was created. Generally charms are not viewed as defensive weapons, but as a sign of status or individuality. Wolves began to wear charms to stand out or reflect something of themselves through a charm. Some wolves enjoyed the charms, others saw it as a sign to show off or show class over other wolves. Generally wolves can behave oddly around those who wear charms, and this is mostly so because the “Dyelaq Clans” are known for wearing charms so it’s not unusual for wolves to link those with charms to those clans.
Dark rituals
Other than charm spells, some wolves have committed themselves to dark rituals in connection to the realm of “Relaytra” (hell). Wolves heavily fear and look down on this. Any connection with such spells or rituals are usually forbidden and the “Tanlin Clans” will prosecute such wolves. Some wolves of old have been known to gain crafted items from such rituals that are said to be made by demons, and not the Moon Crafter. It’s because of this that wolves do tend to have uncertain views of those that wear charms or have experience with rituals, even if it’s harmless.
Usage
During the rituals wolves are to create a sentence or word in order to summon their item. Before doing so they will always have to speak one word in Dragon Tongue for it to appear and two words for it to disappear. This being “Kuresu”, this stands for “Charm”. After this they are to speak the words they personally chose for their item. This can be anything as simple as “Ring appear”. They can choose to speak these words in their mind or vocally. To remove the charm they are to speak the word “Kuresu Suhoru”, which simply is a demand for the spell to disable. It does require energy to perform the spell and disable it, so wolves will usually not remove the items for fun or frequently, and will usually only remove them if they are cleaning their pelt and body.
Knowledge of humans
To most wolves on Delv Ihoo, human kind, or as they call it “Two-legs”, are nothing but a story to spook young pups. Most wolves do not even believe that they existed. The psychic species are the only ones that generally know they were real, as their territory holds a location where many items are preserved, including that of ancient human civilizations. Those who are very familiar with spells and rituals are aware that dragons shared their knowledge with these beings before it was ever shared with them (wolves). It’s believed that some practices are even directly inspired by what was once done by humans. Wolf cults are the primary example of this.
