Forester SpeciesThe Forester species is one of the most common types to find on the island. They live everywhere from grassy, open fields to the deepest and darkest of forests. While they are often known for their kindness, they can also be bad-tempered and territorial, as their behavior varies greatly depending on where they are from. Aside from their abilities to control nature by vines and plants, they are known for being talented healers and merchants. They take great pleasure in decorating their dens with natural resources. Similar to plants they do require bathing or contact with water in order to grow into a healthy adult. Those that grew up with minimal access to water tend to be smaller than those that had plenty of access.

Behaviour
Forester Wolves have several differences amongst their own kind. A vital key to what determines their behaviour is where they were born and raised. Wolves raised within the forests tend to be a lot more territorial, while wolves raised in fields are far more gentle and submissive. This affects their ranks and talents, as the meadow wolves often become healers and the forest wolves are the fighters. Forest Dwellers are prideful and have a lot of attitude, while their field-cousins are more knowledgeable and patient. Fire is considered their biggest fear, as they can burn to death. Unlike other species their elemental defenses do not work when in contact with fire. They avoid ice and cold places, as they cannot stand low temperatures and will easily feel the effects. In most cases they will feel extremely disorientated and cold. If a forester wolf decided to stay for a longer period of time within the snow, they will likely pass out and die. When it comes to pack mentality, It isn't unheard of that the field-wolves seek protection and will join the forest-dwellers in times of need. Within such a pack, the forest wolves will be dominant and make the choices. Those who grew up in meadows will usually follow obediently. But aside from that, they do bond closely to each other, despite their differences. Forester wolves are rarely found alone, as they are social and protective of their kind and family. Their fluffy ears are known to avoid forest dirt in getting inside, their hearing is known to be really good.

DietTheir diet is very unusual. While most species will generally eat meat, the Forester Wolves have a huge variety of diet. Fruits, herbs and berries being some of them. They can eat meat, but there have been wolves that only consume fruits and herbs. It's believed that they can easily survive and thrive on plants and fruit based diets, and this is a trait they inherited from their Dragon God. Their kind also loves to mix meat and fruits together for their meals.
ReproductionAfter a bonding process, the Forester Wolves will usually mate for life. They are sexually mature around the age of 18. Smells and scents plays a big part before the bonding, as the smell attracts two individuals to one another mutually. It's not uncommon for a wolf to fall in love or feel attracted to another wolf by scent alone, this can be quite hard if they realize the wolf in question will never become his or her mate. After mating, females will have a gestation period of 60 to 75 days before giving birth. The males will build a nest made out of plants and other material from nature for the female to give birth. Pups are born blind and deaf, and gain sight and hearing after a week. Their ears remain floppy for another month.

Physical Appearance
Forester Wolves have a thatch-green undercoat with aragoon-green back. This allows them to blend in perfectly in the deep woods. They have long, big ears with tufts, making them excellent listeners to even the smallest of sounds. Their fur is generally light and loose to prevent getting stuck in branches and ferns. They have long, extended fur on their rumps and long tails compared to most other species. This aids them for quick movements and sharp turns in tight spaces. Their teeth have blunt edges, so they don't have the sharpest of bites, but this allows them for better gripping on delicate fruits and berries. They have long cheek fur and a straight muzzle. They are medium sized and have an average weight.
- Males have larger ears and tails, as well as more fur on the chests. They have a lot more fur on the rump, and slightly more fur on their front paws and their markings differ little from the females. Males are generally known to be more dominant than females.
- Females have slightly shorter ears and tails, with less fur on their chests but they have a lot more fur on their paws as well as longer cheek fur. They have less markings than males, and are generally a lot less aggressive than them.
Powers and Abilities
Common moves
- Root-Vine control: They can control vines and roots if present at will depending on their surrounding, focus and experience.
- Branch control: This move is very similar to "root/vine" control, it allows them to snap branches in half on a distance. This is often used to gather fruits or to get potential enemies out of the trees. It does require focus as well for it to be used.
- Leaf blades: This move allows them to control healthy leaves that are part of tree's or bushes. They will send them at such force and speed that they can even cut opponents. As before they require focus as without it their attack will halt.
- Call of nature: When storing elemental energy they are capable of creating a loud howl to push back enemies.
- Sleep powder: This powder is formed from natural oils coming directly from their pelt. At will they can release this substance into a powder form to put opponents to sleep. When used they will not be capable of using this directly after, as it can take as long as a full day for this move to be re used. When using this they will generally move fast over or sideways from the opponent, the dust is released from their main body leaving their neck and face free from the powder. With a smooth jump they can release the trail of sleeping powder without getting affected themselves. Equally using this to much could result in a less healthy coat. This very substance can also work against them as they are not immune to the effects of this powder.
Abilities
- Water boost: When soaking in water, they will regain energy quicker as it also speeds up the healing process.
- Nature aid: Nature aid allows these wolves with a simple touch from paw to nature (a tree, bush etc), to heal dying trees, flowers and plants. Not only can they heal it but they can also boost the growth. This for instance works great if they want to consume more berries, as they will boosts the growth of set bush so it in return will gain more fruits.
- Scent change: This ability us used to confuse potential prey or enemies. They can alter most scents to that of plants and trees in nature. In order to mimic a scent they do require the knowledge and experience of the real scent. Meaning a wolf that has never smelled the real scent of a specific flower, cannot replicate this in another area. They will release elemental waves not visible to the eye to alter the scent temporarily in the area.
- Keen sense: With this ability they are quick to realize if a scent is natural or caused by another wolf of this species. Equally their keen sense of smell allows for great tracking skills. Wind, rain and natural changes can cause for the ability not to work as it should.
- Nature manipulation: This is the ability that allows Forester wolves to control certain aspects of nature like: vines, roots, plants etc. Forester wolves do need focus, meaning in a battle if kept unfocused or if their opponent targets their head, it can lead to the inability of controlling and using this move.
Mythical abilities
- Water manipulation: This ability is extremely rare and considered mythical. Very few wolves of this species ever mastered it. It is said that the family line of "Shizeno" was known for it. With this ability the wolf in question is capable of using vines that will drain nearby water sources which in return will turn the vine itself soaking wet. This will give the effect of a water based move rather than a plant based move. Fire will not be able to torch the vine as the water itself protects it. Foresters wolves known to master this were viewed as a threath by fire wolves.
HabitatWhile they originated from the Forester Woods, they are widespread all across Delv Ihoo. Most large forest will at least house a pack or two of Forester wolves if there is enough space. They are usually found in forests or meadows near a lake or streams or some forest in case they need to flee or heal in water. This is important, as their extreme weakness to fire can cause them to burn to death like a plant. It's also common knowledge that Forester wolves will generally be smaller if grown with a lacking source of water in their youth. Therefore, a water source near their territory is a must.

Trivia
- Their dragon symbol represents a large leaf as it's symbol.
- Their species names refers to those who are skilled and work in the forest.
- Their original design was brighter in coloration, and lacked traits, some markings remain the same.
- A user by the name of "SilvaWind" on DA, suggested the species name "Forester".
- For the reboot, their design was inspired by several things. The earlier creation of the Forest rabbit is responsible for their rather large and fluffy ears. Aside from that foxes are another inspiration. Their color palette changed to match that of the Forest they originated in.
- Originally, the creation of the Forester species was dubbed the "Second Plant species". With the Reboot however, they ended up becoming the main species to represent the plant type in AzureHowl Reborn. With that, the original plant species was no longer used for the Reboot.
