Fire SpeciesThe Fire species is another common species found on the Island. They are usually found in mountain areas or open fields, but avoid the cold and other places. They are amongst the most territorial species and have a bad temper with a competitive nature. They have a lot of pride and honor, and they will usually avoid fighting wolves they consider weaker, ranging from type advantage or young and inexperienced wolves. Other than controlling fire, their pelt can vary depending on where the gestation took place. They are known for being great mercenaries.

Behaviour
Fire wolves are extremely territorial and aggressive, and will usually chase strangers out of their territory, the only exception being their own kind. Despite this, they usually avoid actual confrontations and use warnings rather than violence. It's not unheard of for fire wolves to decline challenges they deem unfair because of their prideful nature. Fire wolves can come with three types of coats: Common, Thin or Thick. Fire wolves require very little water, and can go days without drinking. They generally dislike water, as it is their biggest weakness. If a fire wolf falls into water, they will temporarily be unable to use fire. The same result happens if they enter areas that are too cold for them to handle. The duration of their loss of elemental energy can last until they manage to warm themselves up. The fire wolves with thick pelts are more resistant and able to use their element in cold temperatures. Within their pack, leadership is usually determined by a challenger or family line. Wolves with thin pelts feel more intimidated by those with common or thick fur coats, and those with common pelt types will feel more intimidated by those with thick fur. When arguing amongst themselves, it will usually result in brutal fights to show dominance. Their packs usually follow a strict hierarchy and value discipline and respect.

Aside from their general behaviour there are some differences depending on the pelt of the wolf. For instance, those with a common pelt are generally more hostile and extremely proud by nature. Fire wolves with a thin pelt however, tend to be more easy going. They will generally have specific traits that are common for fire wolves, but they are usually more relaxed and calm. Finally wolves with a thick pelt tend to be less social. As it's not uncommon for these wolves to become loners. This can be explained due to the circumstances they are born in. Since their kind will usually avoid spending gestation in cold environments it's believed that those who do are either alone or in a small pack. Because of this those with a thick pelt are generally not raised among many other pups. They can be very hostile but equally they can keep their cool. Their biggest advantage is that their thick pelt protects them from a cold environment, because of this they can still use their power.
DietFire wolves will hunt in packs to take down prey larger than themselves. Their usual targets are large mammals or rabbits. Their main diet consists of mammal meat, rarely fish meat as fire wolves hate to get wet. They have an unusual habit of cooking their food with fire, and enjoy their meet raw, cooked and even crispy. Unlike some other species, they will not eat any type of fruits, and even avoid stomach content from their prey.
ReproductionAfter a bonding process, fire wolves usually mate for life. They are sexually mature around the age of 18. After mating, females have a gestation period of 60 to 75 days before giving birth. Wolves will be looked after by trusted members of the pack while the parents go hunting, as not everyone has the right to breed within a pack. Generally this is the expectation, but for wolves born with the thick pelt, it is more common for the parents to leave their pups hidden as they go and hunt. Pups are born blind and deaf, and gain sight and hearing after a week. They are not born with floppy ears, and their pelt type depends on where the gestation period took place. When fire pups throw a temper tantrum or have high levels of excitement, fire will spark from their fur on accident.

Physical Appearance
Fire wolves have brown fur color, with a darker mane and red markings. Their pelt type is determined on where their mothers spend pregnancy. Volcanic, mountains and forest will give a common coat, while desert and field will result in a thin coat. The rarest of them is the thick pelt, as this shows the female spent her entire pregnancy in an extremely cold environment which fire wolves usually avoid. Both common and thick coated fire wolves have similar manes, while the thin-coated fire wolves have a completely different mane in comparison. Their appearance is overall regal, with manes and long tails. The thick-pelt wolves however are known for having shorter tails. Two of the pelt variations have longer canines. Fire wolves have a very clear facial structure with longer than average ears. Fire wolves can at times features slightly longer or shorter manes.
- Males differ from females depending on pelt, they usually feature more mane, and a red marking on their neck pelt. Their mane is also darker as their canines are slightly longer and thicker (thin pelt lacks longer canines). Each pelt variation has it’s own differences between male and female.
- Females differ from males depending on pelt, they usually feature more less mane, one red marking on their tail. Their mane is also lighter as their canines are slightly smaller (thin pelt lacks longer canines). Each pelt variation has it’s own differences between female and male.
Powers and Abilities
Common moves
- Fire blast/wave: They are capable of generating fire within their mouth and bend it to their will. They will focus elemental energy and release it immediately, to power the attack they will continuously use elemental energy as a flamethrower will take place. Releasing elemental energy from their whole body can release a fire like wave. A side effect to males is that their red neck patch will fire up.
- Flame tackle: With this move they will use a lower amount of elemental energy to give their tackle a fire and burning effect towards opponents.
- Flame tail: Rather than power tail they will loosely release elemental energy from their tail which will spark a flame and causes for their tail to be fiery.
- Fire ball: Fire balls are high concentrations of elemental energy that are quickly send of. These are generally faster than fire blasts.
- Magma bomb: This move is considered their strongest one, but most wolves never succeed in mastering this attack. This attack generates outside of the mouth of a fire wolf as this attack can be dangerous to fire wolves themselves as actually magma builds up.
- Smoke fume: This attack doesn't really damage but it does blind and cause for difficulty of breathing for those who inhale it(except fire wolves). To create the smoke they will use common moves like "Fire blast". When generating the fire within their mouth they will cancel the attack this results in smoke coming from their mouth. The higher amount of elemental energy that is used, the higher the pressure will be on the release of the smoke. Some wolves will even generate small sparks of fire simply for intimidation purposes as slight fire or smoke coming from their mouth or nostrils could intimidate others.
Abilities
- Body heat: This ability will raise their own body temperatures to burning degrees, which is used often to force wolves off of them if they are pinned. This is a very draining ability and therefore is only used in emergencies. Since their body doesn't instantly heat up but takes several seconds, it is not a move they can easily use in combat offensively. This ability however can be used passively as well, they can heat their body up to normal degrees which helps in heating up a hypothermic wolf or any individual that is cold even forester wolves.
- Sun calling: When howling together and sharing their elemental energy these wolves can cause bad weather to disappear, but this can in turn cause heat waves to occur. They do need to be in a pack to successfully perform this.
- Fire proof: This ability makes them immune to fire based attacks. Being capable of generating fire from their pelt and even fangs, this resistance is what protects them from burning themselves. It is believed they gained this fireproof ability from their dragon god "Kasaraf". This also means that a fire wolf cannot burn the fallen wolves in their packs to ashes. While they are fire proof, they are not magma proof which their god for instance is.
- Thick pelt: This ability is only seen in fire wolves that feature this type of pelt. As it protects these wolves from a cold environment, such as cold temperatures, hail, snow etc. This does not protect them from water. But they are fully capable of using fire within snowy areas. They can also form as the heat source to allow regular fire wolves to pass snowy areas without getting cold or losing the ability to use fire.
Mythical abilities
- Black ashes: This ability is known of but treated as a myth. It is said that a fire wolf would be capable of turning their body degrees to such high temperatures that the fire around themselves would turn black giving them an ash like appearance for as long as they use it. It was known that this ability has only been seen by fire wolves in rage.
HabitatWhile they originated from the Yoguzan volcano, they are quite widespread in a lot of areas across Delv Ihoo. They will usually prefer mountains and rocky areas, and some wolves have chosen to live near the edges of the desert. Other than that, they prefer open fields or thick to semi-thick forests. They avoid cold and moist environments as well as wet places connected to streams. Rogue fire wolves are known to travel all around Delv Ihoo even risking the borders of the “Ice lands”. Fire wolves are capable of withstanding volcanic temperatures and so make their homes nearby the volcano on Delv Ihoo itself.

Dragon God Kasaraf
Kasaraf is their God, and unlike other dragons, a lot more is known about him. He resides within the volcano and will only appear for fire wolves he deems worthy or he personally blessed. Kasaraf has a temper, but he is very honorable and has a great sense of justice, traits he passed onto the species. Kasaraf will usually remain in a deep slumber, but it is said that when the volcano erupts, anger got the better of him. |
