Poison SpeciesPoison wolves are considered a rare species. They can only be found at the Poison Forest, other encounters are usually rare. They are considered the most primitive of the species as they still do specific behaviors such as marking their territory. Other species tend to avoid them as they feel uncomfortable around them due to their different appearance. In general they are rather hostile, as they will not tolerate strangers in their territory. Using their dewlap for vocalization, they can make sounds that travel for at least five miles. It will also be the first warning before they confront strangers and trespassers. When fighting they will aim to inject their opponent or prey with poison first and wait for it to work. Their saliva is equally as poisonous as well. Their kind has been known for cannibalism but only towards different species.

Behaviour
Poison wolves will usually keep their heads low, keeping an eye on their surroundings. They are very primitive, living in dens they dig and vocalize by sounds rather than words. Young poison wolves are taught to fend for themselves at the early age of 7 and are expected to join hunts in order to gain food. During this time older poison wolves will keep an eye on the younger ones. Leaders will still mark their territory, and they will also decide who gets to breed and who doesn’t. When angry, their dewlap will become more fuzzy as they will attempt to make themselves look bigger and more intimidating. They will also shake their their tails as a sign of anger. By nature they tend to be mistrusting, as they will avoid communication with outsiders. Poison wolves do enjoy water in general and they can often be found relaxing near rivers. They will spend a lot of time sunbathing and relaxing and unlike other species they can also last a lot longer without eating.

As a pack they are very close and can work perfectly well together. Poison wolves have rather low amounts of elemental energy as generally it is only used in common moves known to Delvihen wolves like energy ball, but they make up for it with their poisonous abilities. Wolves born with unique abilities likely have more elemental tied abilities. During hunts, they will vocalize to confuse their prey, as they will run in for quick bites in order to poison their target. When poisoned, they will simply wait till their target is down. Males are generally more aggressive, but there is not much conflict between males and females. Poison wolves have different tail gestures, as they will wave their tail slowly to observe and shake it when aggressive. While pups live a very individual life as is expected, the parent figures will always watch them till they are at least teenagers. Poison wolves are highly intelligent and well known to have intel on other species. When they live in small-medium sized groups it's more common to see both a male and female lead the pack. However in most large packs the structure is very different and more common. One to two males will lead the pack as the others will generally all be female. Offspring of these males if born male, are kicked out of the pack once they are independent enough. In such large groups the male(s) is in charge.
But the females however can make life changing situations. If they deem the male weak, to old or not capable enough, they will turn against the male(s). In this scenario a male will be brutally chased out and in some cases even killed. Equally it is possible for younger males to challenge the leader(s), in this case females equally will not step in as their leader will have to prove himself. So for a male it is extremely important to ensure the females are content. If a male is kicked out they will generally look for smaller groups to simply belong somewhere. New leading males will need a lot of patience as it can take up to months before the females in the pack will trust them. Any wrong move is enough for them to turn against the potential new males. Therefore especially if pups are around, the males will have to be very caring and nurturing towards em. Among the females there is usually a more dominant figure that is in charge and makes the call if something is to happen.
While generally females don't pairbond it does occur that some will. In this case the female leaves the pack to join a smaller to medium sized group. These poison wolves tend to live on the borders of the Poison forest and can pair bond. Even so it's not uncommon for a group to have a lead male and female, without any pairbonding taking place.

DietDue to their immunity to poison, they have a huge range of what they eat, as poisonous animals are on the menu. Poison wolves are considered omnivores as they eat meat, fish, birds, plant matter, fruits, insects, reptiles and amphibians. If they kill wolves of another species they have been known to consume their flesh as well which doesn’t aid the view outsiders have of this species at all. When hunting, their vocalizations don’t only reach far, but it also bounces off trees and rocks, giving a wrong expectation to prey to where they are hiding. Young pups usually survive by eating smaller reptiles and insects.
ReproductionPoison wolves do not generally bond to partners for life, but leaders of the pack are usually an exception depending on the size of the pack. If the pack is led by a single male, it is not unusual for the male to breed with several females of his pack. While bonding can occur, this depends heavily on how well individuals get along with one another. They are sexually mature around the age of 18. A lead pair or single male of a pack decides who gets to breed in a society/pack. Poison wolves only breed once every three years, which is why their kind is generally rare. After mating, females will have a gestation period of 70 to 85 days before giving birth. Females will guard their offspring fiercely for the first 3 years before any training starts. Pups are born blind and deaf, and gain sight, hearing and straight ears after a week. Poison pups are taught early about the importance of a pack mentality, and that they have to contribute to it.

Physical Appearance
Poison wolves have a more unusual and almost reptile-like appearance. They have a purple pelt with darker markings on their head, neck, belly, tail and legs. Their tail is thicker and pointy, resembling that of reptiles. They also have a clear dewlap (skinbag) on their throats. They have slit pupils, and their main canine teeth are thicker and store poison. They can spit poison, and store all of it in their dewlap. Venom ducts are located at both their teeth and dewlap, which have veins under the skin that produce poisonous matter. In order to get rid of a surplus of poison, the dewlap has special properties which allows the poison to slowly move through the skin and drip out, which is why the dewlap will usually look wet. This also makes it a dangerous area for other species of wolf to target as one bite on this dewlap will poison them instantly. If targeted by their own kind, a skin back will regenerate. They can also enlarge their skin-bags to make unique vocalizations which sound rather chilling, especially when heard from a distance.
- Male poison wolves differ slightly as their markings are a little bit different, having a fully colored tail and ears. They also have a facial mask extending above the eyes. Their dewlap is slightly larger as well. Males can come in more vibrant colors than females. Males also have a slight fur ridge on their back.
- Females have only slight differences to males. Their tail isn’t fully colored and neither are their ears. Their dewlap is only a bit smaller, but for most other markings they remain similar. Females have some possibilities for vibrant colors, but not as wide as males.
Powers and Abilities
Common moves
- Poison/Venom bite: Poison wolves mostly rely on their poisons that are produced in their dewlap. Their strategy is simple, poison and back off. They are great stalkers and will move quickly to land a bite. They will avoid confrontation and wait for their venom to do it's work. When they bite they will directly release venom through their teeth within the wound they inflict. Poison wolves have three different types of toxins that are stored within their dewlap. They cannot mix which they use as they can only use one at a time. When they store venom in their teeth, it will take up to several minutes before they can transfer more or change the type of toxins. They use their poison carefully, as they are aware that using it all at once could leave them without a venomous bite. Young poison wolves struggle with this as they tend to use it all up lacking proper control, in return this can result in more damaging or lethal attacks if hit. The dewlap stores all the poison, when it travels to their teeth and stores up, we speak of venom as this is only effective if inflicted within a wound. While other Delvihen wolves generally will not die from their poison, to much poison can result in death. Biting the dewlap will cause mixed toxins to poison whomever is biting. Swallowing this substance will cause the wolf to be poisoned.
-Neurotoxic toxins: These will temporarily paralyze a wolf. If the targeted species is vulnerable to the poison species the effect lasts longer. Elemental defenses play a part in how long the wolf is affected. (1/5-2/5 could last up to several hours, 3/5-4/5 would last around a quarter hour or half an hour, and 5/5 would last several minutes only) During this wolves generally are still conscious and awake but incapable of moving, in some cases some wolves will pass out generally we are speaking about young wolves then. When bitten it does take up to 5 minutes for the effects to appear.
-Sleeping toxins: When bitten, the victim no matter their elemental defense will feel drowsy and tired. In a matter of minutes the wolf will fall asleep. There is no set time as it seems to depend on the individual on how long they remain asleep.
-Fever toxins: When bitten the wolf will experience several symptoms of this toxin. The wolf will feel: fatigued, chills, very warm or cold, body aches and head aches, rise in temperature and nauseous. The effects can last for days, as the bitten wolf will need to rest a lot or see a healer. When bit it can take a while before the first symptoms start to appear. - Poison shot: This allows them to release a strong spray of venom from their teeth, this does require the wolf to aim for wounds or vulnerable area's such as the mouth or eyes.
- Tail swipe: Is a common move they'll use to slam down opponents or get them of their tail.
- Glaring eyes: Poison wolves tend to stare down their opponents, while originally it was believend to simply intimidate their opponents, it does seem to weaken the opposing wolf their elemental power.
Abilities
- Poison immunity: They are safe to all types of known poisons. When in conflict with their own kind, they will battle it out with tail swipes and physical contact. They are not safe however for spores.
- Toxic: This ability is activated when wolves directly target the dewlap. Venom ducts of the different types of toxins will open allowing for more poison to leak out. The wolf who bites will get an extreme dose of poison as this can easily turn lethal.
- Detachment: This allows them to drop their tail depending on the circumstances. They can regrow it similar to swamp wolves but slower.
- Regenerate: They have regenerative properties for their tail and dewlap, meaning if damaged or if teared of(or detached) these will grow back. It can take up to five months for the tail to grow back, the dewlap grows back in a matter of 2 weeks.
Pack mentality(♀): Female poison wolves gained this ability over the generations and lack of pair bonding. They will gain a boost of power if surrounded by other females of their pack. Females have close bonds with one another and will work together. If they deem a male unworthy this boost will be triggered by the pack mentality of the females. It is not activated around random females, only to poison females within their pack. Similar to males it requires no elemental energy. - Protector(♂): Male poison wolves gained this ability over the generations of fending of other males from their pack. A male poison wolf will gain a boost of power if faced towards another male. This triggers when threatened by other male wolves and it requires to elemental energy to activate.
Mythical abilities
- Acid form: This mythical ability allows for the poison wolf to generate an additional toxin in it's dewlap. When mastered the'll be capable of biting and releasing acid. Not only that but they'll gain an immunity to this very toxin only when the ability is triggered. A poison wolf visually when using this will have bright green acid running out of it's mouth. Their eyes will turn to a bright green, as their paw pads will leave acid trails. When bit it will melt away the skin. What makes it deadly is that it effects other poison wolves as well as they are not immune to acid unless they mastered this ability.
HabitatThey originate from the Poison Forest. They rarely venture out and usually are only found within this forest. They are in their element here, which is why they prefer to stay put. Though rare, they can be found outside of their territory as well. They will prefer dense, deep forests and areas they can hide and lurk below the bushes. If spotted outside of their natural habitat, they tend to be rogues or loners. They will always seek areas with lakes or rivers as they do enjoy to cool down in water. There they can also be found in the Lamua swamp.

Dragon God Velok
Poison wolves admire and respect their Dragon God Velok. They will not take insults towards their god and can often be found leaving prayers to their god. They have a close connection to him, as most poison wolves are aware on how to find their Dragon God and communicate with him. Velok might be hostile to outsiders, but is generally kind towards Poison wolves.
