Freshwater inland fish
A wide variety of fish can be found in the lakes, ponds, rivers and streams of Delv Ihoo. Many of these being fish known to our own world. When it comes to inland freshwater fish, Delvihen wolves speak of 3 groups. These groups being: western, eastern, and endemic inland fish. The western/eastern fish tend to have more natural coloration's while endemic fish have unique colors and traits which makes them adapted to the habitat they are found in. Endemic fishes cannot be found outside of their natural habitat, if by accident they are found outside of it they will likely perish. Western inland fish can be found over the entire western side of the island, sometimes even in stranger habitats. The same actually goes for the eastern inland fish that also ranges their side of the island. The culprit behind this are various types of fishing birds. It is not unusual for them to wander in lakes and cause for the situation that fish eggs get stuck on their legs. When they fly further this results in eggs being dropped within different lakes and more. Of course the survival rate depends on many factors, some might not preform so well in unique waters. Sometimes Delvihen wolves themselves are also seen as the culprit behind this, as some will deliberately introduce fish within lakes. This can be for various reasons, with the main one being to provide for a future food source.
- Western inland fresh/brackish fish: These fish only appear on the western side of the island(NW/SW).
- Eastern inland fresh/brackish fish: These fish only appear on the eastern side of the island(NE/SE).
- Endemic inland fresh/brackish fish: These fish are tied to one specific location only (ex. Cosmic lake).
(Some fish of either the western or eastern side can be found in either location on both sides of the island.)
